Learn How to Grow Slipper Orchids

Registered more than a century ago, Paph  Berenice (lowii x philippinense) is surely among the most enduring of the multifloral slipper orchid hybrids.  Berenice is easy to grow and will usually bloom on a single growth and a start. The orchid shown is a first-bloom seedling with three flowers.

Paph Berenice has inherited the best of both parents. Paph. lowii has widened the petals,  enriched their pink colouration, and also improved their stance. Paph. philippinense has lengthened and  twisted the petals, contributed  stripes to the dorsal, and has also lightened the usually dark lowii pouch to an attractive amber. For those contemplating  multifloral paphs. Paphiopedilum Berenice would be an ideal first plant.
