Unusual and beautiful, Paph hookerae charms with its broad, almost magenta petals, held aloft like wings, yet kept in check by the large bulbous mossy green and brown pouch. The slightly hooded dorsal no doubt prevents the pouch from filling up with water during a rainstorm, which would detract from the ethereal lightness of the flower. The plants too are small, with brilliant jewel-like foliage in deep forest green and cream. They can bloom when barely 15 cms across! The flower pictured is a first bloom seedling from a sib cross of 'OZ' x 'Beta' HCC/AOS, that we have offered in our catalog. Not often available in the past, this species is finally making a long awaited re-appearance.
