Pairing of the multifloral philippinense with vinicolour Maudiae types is relatively recent. The results indicate that this is a line of breeding worth following. While philippinense does increase the petal length somewhat, its main contribution here is to increase flower count, and produce pleasingly tailored flowers with consistent color. Of course in any cross
there will be range of outcomes, but this first bloom seedling, with three
flowers to the spike, is encouraging. Interestingly, as is sometime
observed with multiflorals, each flower has slightly different carriage,
though the desirable glossy colour is consistent.
