Registered in 1893, Paph. Xanthophyllum, is a lovely muted primary hybrid between Paph mastersianum and hookerae. The latter has contributed the pink petal tips and its large staminode while the mastersianum has improved the overall form and diffused colour in the dorsal. We expect that the blooms also lasts a long time. Xanthophyllum has a soft sepia-toned quality not found in many modern hybrids, and deserves to be made more widely available.
