The Japan Grand Prix International Orchid Festival
(JGP) also known at the Tokyo Dome Show is probably the most spectacular, if not the
largest, orchid show in the world, attracting orchid enthusiasts from all corners of the
globe. About 350,000 people visit the show, sometimes with more than 50,000 people a
day! I was extremely fortunate to be the guest of Dr Toshinori Tanaka, a paph expert in
Japan, at the preview party the evening before the show opened to the public. Thanks to
his hospitality, I was able to avoid the crowds and take these photos. What follows is a
